Joseph Burns possesses nearly 20 years of banking experience and currently serves as a Vice President of Commercial Real Estate at State Bank of Long Island a $1.6 billion commercial bank headquartered in Jericho, NY Joseph is focused on providing senior secured debt on multifamily housing, retail, office, and industrial properties throughout the tri-state area.
Prior to joining State Bank in May of 2008, Joseph was employed by the Marshall Group where he launched a New York Loan Production Office for the Minneapolis based investment banking firm. While at Marshall, Joseph was responsible for the origination, underwriting, distribution, and management of real estate development debt throughout the northeast.
For the period of 2000-2004, Joseph worked for Merrill Lynch where he managed the firm’s commercial banking and real estate lending efforts the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Nassau County. Joseph’s areas of expertise included real estate finance, working capital financing, equipment financing securities based lending, mergers and acquisition, and case management strategies.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Joseph had over 11 years of commercial and real estate banking experience divided nearly equally between Chemical Bank (now JP Morgan Chase) and Key Corp.
Joseph received his B.B.A with a concentration in finance from Adelphi University in 1989. He is currently a member of the Long Island Builders Institute and Mortgage Bankers Association. Additionally, Joseph serves on the Board of Directors of both the Malverne Little League and Our Lady of Lourdes CYO/YAC. |
