ABOUT THE REAL ESTATE PRACTITIONER'S INSTITUTE

James Carpenter

James Carpenter, Executive Vice President of New York Community Bank, began his banking career in 1987 with American Savings Bank as a mid-town Manhattan Branch Manager. After one year, he moved to real estate and commercial loan workouts for the bank. Mr. Carpenter joined Columbia Federal Savings Bank (CFS Bank) in 1991 where he held various positions in commercial real estate lending and asset management. Prior to acquisition by New York Community Bank (NYCB) in 2000, Mr. Carpenter was Senior Vice President in charge of commercial real estate and construction loan origination. He continued with NYCB to his current position as Executive Vice President Mortgage Origination.

Mr. Carpenter serves on the Board of Directors of the Long Island Housing Partnership and the Real Estate Practitioners Institute at Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus in Brookville. He is a past president of the Metropolitan Mortgage Officers Society and is a member and past president of the the Three Village Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Carpenter is a graduate of the University of Richmond with a B.S. in Business Administration/Finance. He later earned an MBA with a concentration in Accounting from Fordham University, and he is a graduate of the National School of Banking at Fairfield University.
